Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday night. The athlete was involved in a car accident near Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, representatives had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the loss of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge follows the sports world shared condolences for the star in the wake of the devastating accident.
