Canada's Blue Jays Secure World Series Meeting With Los Angeles Dodgers
George Springer was instrumental for the Astros claiming the championship in 2017.
Canada's MLB team reached their first Fall Classic following the 1993 season by beating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh game seven of the AL Championship Series.
Behind three runs to one, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run blast in the seventh, propelling the only Canadian franchise in the majors to a 4-3 win in the best-of-seven series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, who are the defending champions, in the anticipated World Series.
"It's incredible for everyone here, the city, the nation," commented Springer, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 title. "What an amazing experience."
George Springer has now hit 23 October home runs, placing him third on the list after Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).
"I can't think of another person anywhere that I want up in that situation other than Springer with his post-season brilliance," remarked Schneider.
Seattle, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, continue to be the one club never to appear in a championship series.
Manager Dan Wilson commented "without a doubt that it's painful" after his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their performance in the campaign.
"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we ended up on the losing end of this game," he remarked.
The Blue Jays won the title on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will host the Dodgers in the first game on this Friday.
