FC Barcelona Ready for Inaugural Match at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday
Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou this Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Basque side in the Spanish league 30 months after they moved out for construction to commence.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity but 45,401 spectators will be allowed to watch based on approved permits. When completed, the stadium’s capacity will reach almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. Barça announced completed upgrades featured a renovated tunnel for players along with upgraded changing facilities.
Recent Activities
The club conducted a fan-accessible workout on the home pitch in early November. Officials stated they are seeking authorization by UEFA for their upcoming Champions League fixture facing Eintracht in December in the renovated venue. Their recent games have been held at the Olympic Stadium.
