Hulu is Producing a Popular Game TV Show from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The latest Far Cry game that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for delighting in action and mayhem with similar glee, all while weaving engaging, politically driven narratives. It’s no surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two producers whose creations have exemplified all of those qualities.
What to Expect
Based on Ubisoft's successful video game series, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also parallel the video games' structure by introducing a fresh location and ensemble in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team always encourages me with their ongoing belief and support.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology program. Each game is a interpretation of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can change from year to year, while always delving into the essence of people through this multifaceted and chaotic perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to work with Rob and introduce our common unconventional, daring approach to the television.”
A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
