An exciting playable preview will release on January 7th, granting a substantial taste into the game's beginning segments. Notably, any progress achieved within this demo is eligible to be transferred directly into the main game upon its subsequent debut.

Beyond Just a Simple Re-release: A Complete Overhaul

This project constitutes a comprehensive reimagining of the landmark year 2000 role-playing game, first released as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a notable departure from recent series remakes, such as the previously released HD-2D versions, this reimagining utilizes a unique 3D art style. Locales appear to evoke intricate miniature worlds, with protagonists having a delightful chibi-esque look.

"Taking into account the 3DS port, the main quest was still quite long. Therefore, we reached a decision that we wanted to streamline the story, [and] craft an experience for contemporary players."

Major Gameplay Enhancements and Modernizations

The creators have introduced several modernizations to refresh the classic gameplay loop. Among these are:

• Streamlined Field Encounters: Inspired by contemporary role-playing games, weaker enemies are now dispatched instantly on the overworld map eliminating the need for initiating a full turn-based combat screen.
• Variable Combat Pace: Players have the option to accelerate combat animations to rapidly power through simpler fights.
• New Vocation System: A brand new vocation has been added for this reimagining. Additionally, characters gain the ability to take on a second job, significantly expanding customization options.

These refinements are aimed at mitigate one of the original game's most noted points of feedback: its immense playtime. The initial adventure was known to require over 100 hours to see through. The reimagined version was expressly designed to refine flow and reduce perceived repetition.
