The Manager's Position on Celtic

The Ipswich boss referred to Celtic as "an enormous football club" but stressed he is "deeply involved" of a "extensive rebuilding" with the Championship side.

The 39-year-old took charge of Portman Road in 2021 and led them to the English top flight with back-to-back promotions, but they managed only a handful of victories last season as they were demoted back to the second division and they presently occupy twelfth place in the Championship.

"There have been such conversations," the London-born former Northern Ireland young player said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"This isn't a matter I have given any thought to, or where any part of my focus is currently.

"I possess a special job here at a remarkable club. And we're at a crucial stage of the season. Anything outside of that hasn't touched my radar."

Context and Contractual Details

Reports indicate that the manager would be willing to talk to the Scottish side given his boyhood allegiances.

"During youth, we all have our affinities," he said when asked about these. "I don't think all people has to publicly and announce what they were, but naturally it's a massive football club."

McKenna signed a fresh multi-year deal in last year and was questioned about his reported £5m release clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are things," he replied. "I'm unaware what mine are and, were I informed, I wouldn't disclose you anyway!

"I tackle this job like I will remain Ipswich manager forever. I understand that's not always going to be the case, but I'll always do my best as long as I am here."

Bellamy's Situation

Bellamy represented Celtic on loan from the Magpies in the mid-2000s, but the former Welsh striker is inclined to finish the ongoing global tournament campaign, a stance that would practically eliminate the 46-year-old from assuming the Glasgow position.

Wales are currently in third place in their qualifying group behind group toppers Belgium and runners-up Macedonia.

Wins over Liechtenstein and North Macedonia in next month would book their place in the qualification play-offs, but they are virtually guaranteed of making those, thanks to a successful Nations League performance, should they fail to finish as their group second place.

Given his current stance, the Wales manager, whose agreement expires after the European Championship, would be unavailable until following the qualifying matches at the minimum.
